PARODY ALERT: Deplavity is a joke from the Explicit Measures podcast. Not a real drug or product. Not affiliated with Microsoft.
Once-daily relief for Fabric deployments*

Because your artifacts deserve to arrive where you sent them.

Deplavity® (deploymentium pipelinate) is the first once-daily treatment for Chronic Deployment Dysfunction. Fewer surprises in Prod. More smiling at laptops in sunlit kitchens.

*Deplavity is a parody. Please see Important Safety Information, which is long, tiny, and entirely made up.

Do you suffer from Chronic Deployment Dysfunction?

Semantic models that work in Dev but forget who they are in Prod? Lakehouses that show up in Test with no tables and no explanation? You're not alone. Millions of Fabric users struggle with Artifact Drift every day.

Chronic Deployment Dysfunction

You click Deploy. Something happens. It is rarely the thing you wanted.

Artifact Drift

Items slowly wander away from where you put them, like socks in a dryer, but with connection strings.

Identity loss in Prod

Semantic models that work in Dev but forget who they are in Prod. They still point at Dev. They always point at Dev.

Empty Lakehouse Syndrome

Lakehouses that show up in Test with no tables and no explanation. Just a lakehouse, staring back at you.

"I just wanted my notebook to point at the right lakehouse. Just once."A real feeling, voiced by a fictional engineer

How Deplavity works

Deplavity is the first once-daily treatment that rebinds your semantic models, remaps your connections, and convinces your deployment rules to actually apply. Ask your capacity admin about Deplavity.

1

Rebinds semantic models

Gently reminds each model which lakehouse it belongs to in every stage. Reports follow along, happily, like ducklings.

2

Remaps connections

Dev connections stay in Dev. Prod connections stay in Prod. Nobody has to open a settings pane at 11 PM.

3

Makes deployment rules actually apply

Your deployment rules stop being suggestions and start being rules. Revolutionary, we know.

One capsule daily, with or without a pull request. Best taken before your first pipeline run of the morning.

Clinically shown†

94%†

Clinically shown† to reduce "why is this pointing at Dev" moments by up to 94 percent.

Parody statistic

†Not a real clinical study. Not a real drug. The number 94 was chosen because it sounded confident. No lakehouses were harmed.

Real relief. Fictional people.

Individual results may vary. All testimonials are dramatizations by completely made-up personas.

★★★★★
"Now I deploy on Fridays. On purpose."
A. Engineer
Data Engineer, formerly anxious

Fictional persona. Weekends now available.

★★★★★
"I just wanted my notebook to point at the right lakehouse. Just once. Now it does. Every time. I cried a little."
N. Booker
Notebook Enthusiast

Fictional persona. Lakehouse now correctly attached.

★★★★★
"My Prod semantic model introduced itself to me by name. It finally knows who it is. So do I."
Pat Pipeline
BI Lead, Dev to Test to Prod

Not a real person. Probably a very nice one, though.

The official Deplavity jingle

Riffy wrote the official Deplavity theme song. Harmonies about once-daily dosing and artifacts that arrive where you sent them.

Side effects of the jingle may include humming it during standup. Use the floating control in the corner to pause or mute.

Important Safety Information

What is Deplavity?

Deplavity (deploymentium pipelinate) is a pretend once-daily treatment for adults with moderate to severe Chronic Deployment Dysfunction and Artifact Drift in Microsoft Fabric. Deplavity is a parody. It is not a drug, a supplement, a product, a service, a Fabric feature, or a roadmap item. It cannot be prescribed, purchased, installed, or deployed, which, frankly, is on brand.

Who should not take Deplavity?

Do not take Deplavity if you are allergic to YAML or currently in a Git merge conflict. Do not take Deplavity if you still publish straight to Prod, or if you have ever said "it's just a small change" before 5 PM on a Friday.

Possible side effects

Side effects may include:

  • Sudden confidence in Git integration
  • An urge to parameterize everything
  • Telling strangers at parties about workspace identity
  • Deploying on Fridays, on purpose
  • Spontaneously drawing Dev, Test, and Prod boxes on whiteboards
  • Mild to moderate enthusiasm about deployment rules

In rare cases, patients have reported their capacity throttling while they were simply looking at it.

Warnings and precautions

Do not operate heavy dataflows while taking Deplavity. If your refresh lasts longer than four hours, contact your Microsoft rep right away. Deplavity may interact with tenant settings you didn't know existed. Not approved for Premium Per User.

Tell your Fabric admin about all the workspaces you use, including shared capacities, trial capacities, and that one workspace named "Test2_FINAL_v3." Deplavity has not been studied in tenants with more than 400 admins or in workspaces older than the feature itself.

Consult your Fabric admin before stopping, starting, or thinking about Deplavity.

Drug interactions

Deplavity may interact with manual hotfixes in Prod, connection strings pasted from Teams chats, and semantic models that were "just copied over real quick." Avoid combining Deplavity with deploying the wrong pipeline stage, which, admittedly, is the thing it was supposed to fix.

Parody notice

Deplavity is a comedy bit from the Explicit Measures podcast. There is no clinical study. The 94 percent figure is fictional. All testimonials are from made-up personas. If you are actually experiencing deployment problems, please consult the official Microsoft Fabric documentation, your actual Fabric admin, or a calm friend.

You are encouraged to report negative side effects of Fabric deployments to your team retro. Please see full Prescribing Information, which does not exist.

Frequently asked questions

Is Deplavity right for my tenant?

Ask your admin. They will say "I don't know what that is," which is the correct answer, because Deplavity is a parody and does not exist.

How do I take Deplavity?

Once daily, ideally before your first deployment pipeline run. Do not double up if you miss a dose. Simply redeploy and hope, as is tradition.

Will Deplavity fix my lakehouse that showed up in Test with no tables?

Deplavity cannot fix anything, because it is not real. But it can sit with you while you look at the empty lakehouse together. Sometimes that is enough.

Can I take Deplavity with Premium Per User?

No. Deplavity is not approved for Premium Per User. Nobody is quite sure why. The tenant settings just say no.

What if my refresh lasts longer than four hours?

Contact your Microsoft rep right away. Then get a snack. Possibly a second snack.

Is there a generic version?

Yes, it is called "reading the deployment pipeline documentation and setting your rules carefully." It is clinically shown to be less fun but more real.

Is this affiliated with Microsoft?

No. Deplavity is a parody made for the Explicit Measures podcast. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Microsoft. We just really want our artifacts to arrive where we sent them.

Deplavity. Because your artifacts deserve to arrive where you sent them.

Ask your admin if Deplavity is right for your tenant.
